Classes/Instructors

Rita

Pilates with Rita:
Pilates is the perfect fitness class for developing long, lean muscles. It emphasizes the balanced development of the entire body through core strength and awareness, and flexibility. This class is fun, set to pop music, and ever changing. The exercises chosen for each set are designed to produce visible results in a short period of time. There are variations for beginners as well as experts. Some of the top benefits of taking Pilates are becoming stronger, leaner, and more graceful.

 

Cardio Dance Fusion with Rita:
Cardio Dance Fusion is a fun way to get in shape, loose weight, and tone the body. This class features hip-hop music from the charts along with exotic Latin and international beats. It is exhilarating, effective, and easy to follow. A Cardio Dance Fusion workout is far from a traditional dance class. It involves high-energy routines that incorporate many different dance styles keeping it exciting, fresh and new.

 

Cardio Kickboxing with Rita:
Cardio Kickboxing is an energizing, explosive, powerful, and uplifting class. Each set is designed to burn fat, build muscle tone, relieve stress, and improve coordination. Cardio Kickboxing combines boxing, dance, and martial arts; it is an exciting and tough total body workout. This class is fun and a great way to challenge the mind and the body. Some of the top benefits of Cardio Kickboxing include: a 500-900 calorie burn per class, and noticeable improvement in strength, aerobic fitness, speed, flexibility, and balance.

Heather

Cardio Kickboxing with Heather:
Free style Kickboxing will isolate major muscle groups, tone, shape your core and burn calories. This class focuses on muscle confusion, which keeps your body from hitting plateaus as quickly. You'll leave feeling energized and excited for more. This class has something for everyone, so come and have fun while getting a great workout at the same time!

Step with Heather:
45 minutes of high intensity fat burning fun! Begin by slowly warming up and stretching the muscles, then gradually picking up the pace on the step with versions of high and low impact step combinations. Added into the workout are 1 minute interval sessions to "spark" the cardiovascular conditioning and endurance. The class winds down with upper body, abdominal and core strength training and ends with a few minutes of stretching and deep breathing. All levels of fitness are welcome.

Cardio Sculpting with Heather:
An intense cardio workout coupled with all over body strength training. Cardio workout consists of high & low intensity moves in which the instructor provides options of using high or low impact. The strength training portion focuses and tones the arms, abs, & legs by using a combination of plyometrics, handweights, stability ball & medicine balls. Class ends with a brief stretch and relaxation techniques.

Tabor

Yoga with Tabor:
This is a class for beginner to intermediate, but is open to all who would like to attend. We practice the Ashtange, and Yogafit styles with influences of Iyengar, Vinyyoga and Hatha. The class is a free spirited session, which caters to the students needs. Any suggestions, ideas or specific areas of the practice one would like to focus on are freely accepted. We work into poses (asanas) to build strength and increase flexibility both physically & mentally. We transition through the poses (vinyasas) using our breath to guide our way... combining the body with the mind to attain one's spirit. Come and enjoy a session with Tabor!

Yoga with Elizabeth:
Beginning Yoga
Build on and review basic postures and breath techniques. Appropriate for those with little or no yoga experience.
Intermediate Yoga
Requires a solid understanding of basic postures, breath techniques and sun salutations recommended.

Sue

Silver & Fit with Sue:
Sue has been teaching senior exercise at Forest Grove Health and Fitness since its' opening. Senior Fitness classes are designed to focus on and increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength/power and cardiovascular endurance with the understanding that participants with many different levels of activity are present.

Tai Chi with Russell:
Tai chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion" because it promotes serenity through gentle movements- connecting the mind and body. Originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, tai chi evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and to help with a variety of other health conditions.

Sherri

Body Pump with Sherri:
Bodypump is a toning and conditioning class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, an awesome instructor and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for - and fast! Class is designed for both men and women and for all fitness levels.

Laurie

Nia with Laurie:
"Nia- the Love Your Body Workout"
Nia is a dynamic, freeing movement experience that integrates your body/mind/emotions/spirit and leaves you feeling recharged and fully alive! Nia blends dance, martial arts, yoga and healing arts to allow your child, athlete, warrior and dancer within to expressively emerge. The result of practicing Nia is loving your body and mastering the art of living a passionate and healthy life. Done barefoot (shoes optional) to inspiring, rhythmic music and designed for all fitness levels.

Shannon

Boot Camp with Shannon:
Designed for all fitness levels. A fun, effective, high intensity, calorie burning, body transforming workout; focusing on cardiovascular and muscular endurance, fat loss, speed, agility, quickness, balance and flexibility- done through functional training, emphasizing the body's natural ability to move through all planes of motion.
